How it holds up
Colors
Every color gets one job, and text always reads on what it sits on.
Roll everything will change it.
Type
Two fonts: one for names, one for facts. Never a third.
Roll everything will change it.
Shape and space
One corner size and one spacing rhythm, used everywhere, is what makes a page feel designed.
Roll everything will change it.
Parts
The colors, fonts and shapes, put to work on the pieces you use every day.
Do's and Don'ts
The rules that keep it yours when someone else, or an AI tool, makes the next thing.
Take it with you
Build your site in it. The file is yours to keep either way.

Questions
What is a brand style guide?
A short book of decisions about how your brand looks: your colors with their exact values and jobs, the fonts for names and for facts, how corners, spacing and shadows behave, how a recipe card and a button look, and a few rules about what to do and what to avoid. Anyone making something for you, a designer, an assistant or an AI tool, can follow it and land on your look without guessing.
What is a DESIGN.md file?
A style guide written in a format AI tools read well, published by Google as an open standard. The top of the file lists every color, font size, corner radius and part as exact values; the rest explains how to use them in plain words. Your guide comes as one, so you can paste it straight into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
How do I use it with ChatGPT or Claude?
Paste the whole file into a new chat, or attach it, and say: follow this style guide for everything you make in this conversation. Then ask for what you need: a recipe card, a pin, a newsletter header. The colors, fonts and shapes will be yours instead of whatever the tool defaults to.
What does the scorecard check?
Whether text reads on the page, whether your links and accent stand out, whether button text reads on its button, whether one accent leads instead of several competing, and whether your two fonts work together. From your website it also shows how your site does on each one today.
Can I use colors I already like?
Yes. Under Colors, pick up to three colors you like, or tap one your site or photos already use. The guide gives each one a job (the page, the text, the accent or a support color), makes any it is missing from the ones you picked, and changes only what would not read, saying exactly what it changed.
Do I need a website?
No. Press Roll my style guide and we deal a complete one; then roll, keep or fine-tune each chapter until it feels like you. If you have a site, start from it and the guide keeps your colors.
Is it free?
Yes. Making and shaping your guide is free and needs no sign-up. To take the file away we email it to you, and that email gets you a free Peristyle account that keeps your guide, so you can come back to it. Building your site in it is a separate step with a free trial. See pricing
Can Peristyle build my site in this style?
