Privacy Policy

Peristyle ("Peristyle", "we", "us") builds publishing tools and a recipe index for food creators. This policy explains what we collect when you visit peristyle.io or use our services, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep the page calm and the data practices the same way: we collect what the product needs to work, and not more.

Information we collect

We collect a few categories of information:

• Account information. When you create an account or start a trial, we collect your email address and the details you choose to add, such as your site name and the recipes you publish.
• Content you publish. Recipes, photos, and text you add to Peristyle are stored so we can host and serve them.
• Billing information. Paid plans are processed by our payment provider. We receive the plan, status, and the last four digits of your card, never the full card number.
• Usage and device data. We collect aggregate, privacy-first analytics about page visits. See our Cookie Policy for details.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• provide, host, and maintain your site and recipe index;
• generate the machine-readable parts of your work, such as alt text and structured data;
• process payments and manage your subscription;
• send service messages, such as sign-in links and account notices;
• understand which pages are useful so we can improve the product;
• protect the service against abuse, fraud, and security threats.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Peristyle, and only as much as each one needs:

• Hosting and storage for serving your site and media.
• Payment processing for subscriptions and billing.
• Email delivery for sign-in links and account messages.
• Advertising measurement. When we run ads on Facebook or Instagram, we tell Meta that an action happened on our site — a report request, a sign-up — so we know which ads work. Any email address in that record is hashed first, so Meta receives a hash and never the address.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Peristyle, our creators, and their readers.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies that are needed for the site to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your light or dark theme. For analytics we use a cookieless, privacy-first tool that does not track you across sites or build an advertising profile. While we are running ads, we also use Meta's advertising measurement tools to connect a sign-up back to the ad that led to it. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal: if your browser sends it, no advertising script loads and no advertising event is sent. Full detail lives in our Cookie Policy.

Data retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep records for legal, accounting, or security reasons.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To make a request, contact us at the address on our contact page. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You can export your recipes and content at any time from your dashboard.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe and to notify you promptly if a breach affects you.

International transfers

Peristyle runs on global infrastructure, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Children

Peristyle is built for creators and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product grows. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email or in the app.
